On Thursday, February 8 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Robert N. Wilkins, historian and author of Montreal 1909, will bring participants of the Atwater Library Lunchtime Series back in time for fascinating glimpses into Montreal life just over a hundred years ago.
In his book Montreal 1909, Robert explores Montreal in the year 1909. Readers learn about the day-to-day lives of the city’s civic ancestors over a century ago, what they experienced in their everyday routines. Based on information gleaned from Canada’s once largest newspaper the Montreal Star microfiche library, the book focuses on Montreal’s Edwardian society. Starting on a wintry afternoon on January 2, 1909 through to Friday, December 31 when Montreal was in the grip of a major typhoid epidemic, Robert’s 600 plus pages tell a poignant story of our local history.
As always there is no charge, light refreshments will be served and donations are always cheerfully received. 1200 Atwater Avenue. For more information 514.935.7344
