As part of its celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary, the Westmount Public Library invites the community- adults and children – to travel Canada on a postcard. On Friday. July 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. library staff will take your picture and put you somewhere in Canada. You can pick up your personalised postcard on your next visit and you can send it to family and friends.
To participate just show up at the AV desk, downstairs beside the children’s desk, from 3 to 5 p.m. and smile for the camera. The library staff will superimpose your photo on one of the Canada postcards. You can pick up your completed postcard on your next visit and then send it to family and friends. Or frame it. In 1974 the library put out a call to Westmount residents to donate some of their postcards received from family and friends across Canada. The response was overwhelming. The request had to be closed after the library received more than 49,000 postcards from enthusiastic Westmounters.
The library is organizing the collection that can be viewed on the touch tables located in the library.
