Celebrate Canada Day – Westmount Style!

As part of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, the City of Westmount invites Westmount to its biggest Canada Day event ever—Saturday, July 1 –  right in our back yard!

The celebration of being Canadian  will begin at 11 a.m.  with a Canadian Citizenship Ceremony, that will be held on the roof of the  Westmount Recreation Centre, where 40 new Canadians will be welcomed into the country and into the community. MLA Jacques Chagnon is one of the dignitaries who will attend the moving event that is open to the community.

This is the first Citizenship Ceremony  sponsored by the City of Westmount. The Rotary Club of Westmount sponsored a Citizenship Ceremony in the past at Victoria Hall.

The celebration fun begins at 12:30 p.m. with a BBQ lunch... hamburgers, hot-dogs and beverages …hosted by the Westmount YMCA Teen Zone at the Westmount Recreation Centre.

At 2 p.m. the annual Splash Bash begins at the Westmount Pool with games and prizes and cool summer tunes with the Beat 92.5. Singer Barbara Lewis, who recently  presented a concert at Victoria Hall , will continue with her tribute repertoire of songs written exclusively by Canadians.

Another annual celebration, the cutting of the Canada Day Cake will be held at the Westmount Recreation Centre at 3 p.m..

Celebrate Canada Day – Westmount Style

From 6:30 p.m. onward, the celebrations continue  in Westmount Park in the field in front of Westmount Park School. The festivities of  a variety of fun activities for the whole family include the sounds of DJ Kloda,  some of Montreal’s finest food trucks, refreshments, music and entertainment for all.

But the party doesn’t stop when the sun goes down! In the evening at 9:30 it is party time. Westmount will launch a spectacular, interactive light show CS Design http://designcs.ca) specially designed for Westmount as the City’s  way of celebrating Canada’s 150th. The details are to be kept under wraps so it will be a surprise for Westmounters who come out in the evening of July 1.
