Around 77 members of the community shared High Tea with MP Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, and members of the NDG Westmount Federal Liberal Association at the party’s annual Spring Brunch and High Tea on Saturday, May 20 hosted at at St Phillip’s Church in NDG.
The fun event featured volunteer awards and animated activities and games centred around transportation since MP Garneau is Canada’s Minister of Transport.
But lets face it. Other than getting to schmooze most of the participants, including the organizers were there to enjoy brunch… a high tea … served by The Gryphon d’Or Tea Room , 5968 Monkland Blvd. The fare included a layer of scones served with homemade jams, marmalade and lemon curds.. The layer of sandwiches included egg, cucumber, and smoked salmon. The layer of desserts was decadently piled up with the Gryphon’s butter pecan squares, lemon squares, shortbread and pikelits … Irish pancakes.. served with jams and cream. And although the event was high tea, always vigilant about being green and being fiscally careful, guests were asked to BYOTC (Bring your own tea cup!)
