The Atwater Library Lunchtime Series on Thursday, February 23 at 12:30 p.m., promises to be inspirational for young and old. Drawing from their book Chemin faisant, writers Paule Des Rivières and Raynald Petit and photographer Gabor Szilasi will present the inspiring stories of some remarkable Quebecers who are over 80. The personalities encountered in this book—Alanis Obomsawin, André Chagnon, Antonine Maillet, Claude Castonguay, Clémence Desrochers, Edgar Fruitier, Fernand Ouellette, Françoise Sullivan, Gabor Szilasi, Gretta Chambers, Guy Rocher and Janine Gagnon-Corbeil – are all over 80 years old. You probably admire one or more of them already. Each has left a mark on our society, and each remains, in his or her own way, a source of inspiration. While they have made some sacrifices, they are still passionate about life and engaged in projects large and small. In this book, they speak frankly about what is most important to them.
Renowned Westmount lifestyle photographer Gabor Szilasi has also produced eloquent portraits of the dozen interviewees.
Participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free, although donations are always cheerfully accepted. 1200 Atwater Avenue. For more information 514.935.7344
